Jakarta, September 19, 2024 – Jak-Japan Matsuri 2024, held at Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, on September 14-15, 2024, served as a strategic event to strengthen cultural ties between Japan and Indonesia while also promoting World Expo 2025, which will be held in Osaka, Japan. This annual event became even more special with the first-ever appearance of Myaku-Myaku, the official mascot of World Expo 2025 Osaka, in Indonesia.

The presence of Myaku-Myaku at Jak-Japan Matsuri was not only to promote the friendship between the two countries but also to introduce World Expo 2025 to the public. Indonesia itself will carry the theme "Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future," where the Indonesia Pavilion will showcase various sustainability initiatives, such as green technology and renewable energy, smart city development, sustainable infrastructure, and advancements in the creative industry.

"In addition to the appearance of Myaku-Myaku, the World Expo 2025 Osaka booth also featured Indonesia's official mascot for World Expo 2025 Osaka, Tumtum, which will represent our nation on the global stage," said Dr. Vivi Yulaswati, M.Sc., Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources at the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas).

Tumtum carries a strong message about national identity, from the richness of tradition to the modern innovations embedded in every detail of its design. Thus, it is not just a visual representation; Tumtum is expected to promote Indonesia's cultural wealth and creative economic potential to the international audience.

"Indonesia will actively participate through its pavilion, showcasing cultural richness and sustainable technological innovations. This contribution is expected to strengthen the long-established relationship between Indonesia and Japan. That is why we are very enthusiastic about contributing to this Expo, and various preparations are underway to ensure the best results when the Expo takes place," she concluded.
